I'm tied up until about 10PM, but would still like to come. I'll be relatively close, and could be there by about 10:30. I was I could email someone my cellphone or (preferably) they could email me theirs so I could check and make sure it's still worth coming when I'm free.

It's essentially a community center. We've got a computer lab in there, a park out back, Wi-Fi access, loads of fun.

I rode my bike past there on my way home from work yesterday, and the Neighborhood Boys and Girls Club seems to be a pretty cool place. I understand it hosts at least one club of dedicated computer hobbyists, 2600.

Interesting, but a bit of a drag. Mainly because this wasn't really a Slashdot party. This was a 2600 meeting with Slashdot tacked on. Which is OK, but while there is considerable overlap, they are not the same group.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of bars, but I'd love to have a Chicago Slashdot party that isn't tacked onto any other groups regular meeting. I was hoping for an event more in line with the Chinet/CBBS parties at Barnaby's Pizza back in the mid-90s.

The last one I attended in 95 was hosted by Randy Suess and Ward Christiansen, the co-inventors of the BBS and xmodem. And extra-thick paper plates.
