Kris_J's Journal: Is it just me, or is /. getting a bit boring?

I guess it's a couple of things. For ages now, whenever I've received moderation points I've had a seriously hard time finding anywhere to spend them. This means that of the discussions I'm not moved to comment in, I don't care enough to even moderate. I don't comment in many discussions and many of those have limited, or highly conservative (or seriously uninformed) interest from other members.

I really thought that people would be interested in the Google Web Accelerator, not have responses between indifference and paranoia. Are we all really so jaded that we assume everything is an attempt at corporate takeover? (Ask yourself, if you produced an innovate product, how would you sell it to people? Would you use a company?) I'm tempted to give The Well a go...

His packer makes Wolf5k [wolf5k.com] 11.7% larger, mine makes it 11% smaller.

Oops, that was default settings. It can pack Wolf5k by 3.1%. And it's a lot faster than my old page. (Probably much more bullet-proof too.)

Agreed. I used to peruse the front page and find mostly really interesting articles. Perhaps its that I am now becoming better educated on the topics, or that slashdot is just evolving into something a little less interesting, but now when I peruse the front page, I rarely find anything that interesting, and when I think I might, I often discover the article cited is poorly written and mostly incorrect.

I used to post very heavily on the front page articles, and rarely participate in the Journal Circle.

No corporation is anyone's friend, not least of all because they aren't a person, no matter how many laws they corrupt. That doesn't make their Web Accelerator any less interesting.
