Journal MacBrave's Journal: Cub Scout Camp

After reading bethanie's journal entry from 7/14 about summer camp I just had to comment about my recent summer camp experience.

Got back Saturday morning (7/16) from taking my 10-year old son and eight other Webelos scouts to Webelos Adventure camp. Three days of shooting bb-guns, archery, swimming, crafts, water fights, canoeing (rained out however), etc. The weather was blah however, with temps in the mid-80's and about 90-100% humidity the entire time. Everything we brought, and I mean everything, was damp when we got home.

And surprisingly the kids were pretty well behaved. This group had a couple of potential hell raisers in it but they were good until the morning we left, when I had to put a stop to some good-natured pushing that was quickly escalating into a fight.

Another quick comment: I can't believe the amount of medicated kids we have these days. Of the nine boys we took two brought some kind of ADD/ADHD medication (and I found out after camp that a third boy is also ADHD, but his Mom takes him off his meds during the summer. Calls Ritalin a 'school only drug'). When I was checking in I swear the pack in front of me had at least 12 boys with meds. I guess I've been lucky with my four sons so far.......
