Journal FortKnox's Journal: There goes my alma mater... 5

The only big sports my alma mater had was basketball. Almost guaranteed to be in a good position in march madness, though they did have a tendency to choke in the tourny.

Welp, now comes the loss of Bob Huggins and the end to the basketball dynasty he put in UC. The UC athletic program is gonna pay for it... I know a TON of people will be refusing to pay for basketball tickets and donors will refuse to put their money on an unknown...
Just when the football team got a good coach and is rebuilding to make somethign good in their intro season into the Big East...

I got my pitchfork, now I want heads!

  • As a "close enough to Cincinnati" native, I grew up watching UC basketball and Bob Huggins. He was a good coach and the players did indeed like him (realistically, if they didn't, I don't think the team would have consistently made it as far as they did.) This is definitely going to hurt UC's basketball program, and may discourage good players from attending UC. Xavier, anyone? ;)
  • And though I went to a UTexas school, I strongly hope the Buckeyes absolutely humiliate the Longhorns in about 3 weeks.

I think they will - if Bob Stoops is smart enough to know to beat Texas all you have to do to cripple the Longhorn offense is to contain Vince Young and force him to throw the ball, you can count on Jim Tressel knowing this.

And the Buckeye defense is underrated. Look how bad they made Oklahoma State and Michigan look.

  • Huggs might be gone, but I have a good feeling about UC football in the next few years. ;)
  • Cat was shady. He recruited thugs and I *KNOW* there was some shady shizzz going on behind the scenes. They are firing/making him resign cause they are about to get the hammer dropped on them. That's my educated* guess.

That said, I always hated seeing Cinci on the Blue Devil's schedule. He got his boys to play.

*educated/uneducated, is there really a difference? Seriously, they are still guesses. One just claims to BS you more is all.
  • link to rankings [cnn.com]

I graduated and we fell to 13th? *13th!!! Since 2001 we've been in the top 5, #1 in 2001-2002. I need to write the Princeton Review and let them know that even though I've graduated, I haven't left town and should still be actively considered in the pre-season rankings.

Oh, and on the subject of football, our only reciever that can catch broke his ankle yesterday and is out for the season *sigh*. Hopefully those top 2 receiver recruits we got this year can make a difference.
