My mom just reminded me she's had 38 years of labor

blinder drags the marshall jcm2000 head with the 1960 cab into the room... then comes running in with an arm-full of cables and a EQ pedal and a compression pedal... tosses them to the ground and runs quickly out of the room... to return with the SG. blinder then hooks everything up... flips the switch... waits patiently for the tubes to warm up in the head... flips the standby switch... then slings the SG around his neck... then slowly turns the guitar's volume up... the gain on the head, set at about the 10 o'clock position [the sweet spot on many a marshall]... the gentle A feedback begins to gain in volume. blinder retrieves a pick from his pocket and, with his guitar tuned down into D... plays a palm-muted chord... just then the rest of the band shows up... and is already set up... then a crowd materializes... hundreds of people packed into place... wall to wall chaos begins to break out... the band starts to play a song... its nearly recognizable... slower than one might expect... and much much heavier. then all at once... everyone in the place recognizes it... and every living soul in the room starts to yell and sing....

happy birthday to lou!

They're not booing ladies and gentlemen, they're yelling "Louuuuuuuuu, Louuuuuuuu!"

Downtuned? Bleurgh! Anyone would think you're trying to be Limp Wristed!

Interesting factlet: Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" sounds awesome on an electric guitar through an overdriven valve amp. One of my friends had seriously good taste in that respect (also using Wagners "Ride of the valkyries" in the same service).

sorry tet... i've been "d tuning" since 1991. yeah... we hardcore bands were doing that a very long time ago... that "sound" just got picked up by shithead sellout pieces of shit. helmet probably used it most effectively... 14 years ago.

Hey, mine too! (1)

Well, technically my daughter Elizabeth's. She's the big 1 today.

I always knew that Sol was unconventional... (1)

"Tummy" makes it sound like I'm tlaking to my son, not a buncha intelligent people :P

better than 'womb', though?

How about we just say.... 'girly parts'? ;)

bethanie (675210) | more than 8 years ago | (#13389130)

Then FK, sweetheart, how about using the anatomically correct "uterus" or the more euphemistic "womb"?

"Stomach" makes it sound like they were BARFED up, for chrissakes!!

Now, in ellem's case that *might* even be true -- but certainly not for our delicate dear brick-wielding dragon princess!!

Happy birthday to you both. Maybe you be presented with the opportunity to play with fire in interesting and creative ways!

....Bethanie....

Guys (me anyway) think of stomachs as either the big gut being held back by a belt, or toned abs 99% of us don't have. So to us it's in the correct location.

Meanwhile it doesn't flow off the tongue right to say 'to get you out of their uteruses.' Or would that be uteri? Instantly reminds me of viruses and virii. No real negative connection implied, I swear!

That leaves womb. 'to get you out of their wombs.' What rhymes with wombs? That's right, rooms. Just thinking that sentence makes me smile in amusement.

"Get out of this room and go outside and play!"

I've never thought of a womb as a room before, much too round and not square enough.

I gotta say that to me stomach sounds better than belly, tummy, uterus, or womb.

on the day there was no more room in the womb congrats ;)

and broom rhymes with womb, as do groom, boom, loom, tomb, and DOOM. as well any more words i neglected because i was lazy.

Out of the Womb of Doom, i racoom with my trusty loom, your groom come to broom you with a boom into your Tomb!

Stomach? (1)

Stomach? Only if your mother is the Baby Eating Bishop of Bath and Wells!

Is beautiful. Absolutely lovely. If you ever visit Sommerset, you should drop in, especially with your 'significant other'.

My cousin married his long-term girlfriend of five years there last weekend in a Humanist ceremony, at The Bishop's Palace. Wells also has a stunning cathedral...

Go there, and never mind their baby-eating Bishop!
