Journal Infonaut's Journal: Apple responds to iPod nano scratch claims 2
It looks like Apple is going to do the right thing and take care of people whose iPod nanos got scratched too easily. Smart move, Apple. This confirms what I've been saying for some time now - this is a different Apple than the one of even just a few years ago. They learned from the iPod battery issue. Apple may have been a bit slow in responding to this one, but at least they offered the right response.

Pretty slippery slope... Acknowledge the scratch-a-bility issue with this generation, good chance they'd set a precedent that could apply backwards down the line. While Schiller stated that it's the "same composite" used in previous models, I'm inclined to believe that the thinner sheets required either less tempering or a different formula for manufacturing purposes. Here's to hoping for a fix before November.

Good points. Hopefully they'll take this as a wakeup call and come up with a better, less scratch-prone screen for all iPods. It's a shame they screwed this up with the Nano, because it looks like an amazing device. A friend of mine rushed out and picked one up the first day, and he showed it to me. The screen is simply unbelievable. I was floored at how good photos looked on that small screen, and I've never been on the "Apple needs a video iPod" bandwagon.
