The Move, The Upgrade, Terrarium

Quickies 4

Congrats, you get a 3-fer today.

The Move: Moving sucks. But when you have over 10 people, and 6 vehicles, its not so bad. Especially, if your wife spent most of the week putting stuff in boxes, and brought over the trinkets, so its was just lifting and transporting. And the commute to work from the new place is a breeze! The 60-90 minute commute took less than 20 minutes :-)Congrats, you get a 3-fer today.

The Upgrade: Wow, the server sure does fly now. Marotti.com appears to be running faster, also. I'm having a bit of trouble with X, but I can deal with that later this week. Now, I just have to buy a new harddrive[1] , and I can put up the engine I've been working on.

Terrarium: After the C# discussion, someone put up a link for Terrarium. Wow, does that look like fun. Greg, wanna both work on an omnivore and see which one does better? Anyone else willing to drop their MS guard and develop an animal for terrarium? I think it'd be a blast. Now, I just need to get my hands on a copy of VS.NET...

[1] Not getting that HD anytime soon. The wife and I picked up a new couch (which was a lot more than we had planned on paying, but its a realllly nice and comfy couch!). We had a futon we were using as a couch, but after we took off the padding to move it, we found a lot of the support bars have broken off. I could just spot-weld them back, but the wife just needed an excuse to give that futon away...

Terrarium sounds really cool.. although I haven't had a chance to do anything with it yet. I'd definitely be interested in going in on that. BTW, I should definitely be able to swing free VS.NET trial copies for those interested (there might even be a way to request a free trial copy through MS, not sure). Also- I'm not even sure if you'd need VS.NET - is that one of the requirements for Terrium development?

Probably not, but I'm an editor junky. I like all the wizbangs and stuff (like typing in a dot after your object, and all the public methods/fields pop up for your pick). Yeah, I'm a lazy programmer.

I may hit you up for a copy, unless I can get one at work...

No way, have to pack myself (1)

OCD demands that I pack things up myself, helps that I can get stuff in about half the space that others can, heh. Too much time with legos, waaaay to much time with legos. . . . (and other geometric building systems. ^_^ I analyze all objects as their base flat plane geometric primitive and figure out the best way to combine within a plane of whatever dimensions the boxs has, and then I go at it. Each layer is just a reset of the plane, except for then I start getting really optimized and figuring out how I can fit everything in various notches and keep everything so tightly packed together that, err, well, I do tend to have a wee bit of troubles unpacking it, but hey, that is what those other people are for. :-D )

You're right! (2)

I wondered why it seems to be so slow before. I figured it was good old @#$#&( RoadRunner giving the love.

Well, it flies now, so yay!
