Journal yintercept's Journal: I'm a weiner!
I finally made it out of the dungeons of doom on Rogue. My winning score will be up until 10:00PM MDT on 10/31.
Yep, I consumed thousands of hours trying to get out of that maze. I had the PC version of rogue ages ago. Even then I could not get out of the maze without cheating.
My final score was 29314 pieces of gold. (I could have spent a lot of time collecting gold to get a higher score. I just wanted out of the maze!!!!)
For those not familiar with Rogue...Rogue is the most exciting computer game ever conceived. In the game, you are a litle @ sign that bravely battles twenty six upper case letters (it was written in the days of main frame computers where CAPSLOCK was the norm). Each of the letters have different strengths. The strongest of all the letters is the dragon "D".
The two letters that always gave me the worst problems were the Ws and Ms. A W is a wraith. Wraiths can make you weaker when they bight. Ms are Medusas. They are ugly and you get confused when trying to battle them. You generally need to have some magic if you get confused by the Medusa. Griffens and Dragons are nasty because they are so much stronger than the other letters. NOTE, the cancel wand can get you past the wraiths. Being confused in the tunnels lets you avoid blows of the medusas. So you want to draw medusas into the tunnels.
For rogue players, these are my final numbers. I had 268656 monster battling points (I got three of those raise level potions!). I had 121 hit points. My armor was on a 6+2 scale mail. I had a two handed sword with two enchantment spells. My strength was 18. The real kicker on this hand was that I found quite a few wands. I had two slow monster wands and three teleport away wands and two cancel wands. When I got the amulet of zendor, I was an even match with the dragon and could beat all of the other monsters in a 1-1 battle. Best of all...I had ample magic to save myself from medusas.
Anyway, I made it out of the dungeon; so I will never have to waste time playing rogue again. I can now waste taking pictures.
