Journal Chacham's Journal: Chronicle: Hidden JE link, drove to St. Louis 6
I was wondering if JEs were still allowed, but i saw JEs coming through, finally i asked and StalinsNotDead and ncc74656 were kind enough to repond. Apologies to stoolpigeon for posting OT in his JE. Basically, in IE, at least where i am right now, the JE link isn't showing up. I'd complain, but i learnt some time ago not to expect quality here. I appreciate the service though. It's always a good time for kudos to Taco and crew.
After taking some time off for the Jewish holidays, including all of Succos, i am now in St. Louis starting the second week of my approximate fornight here. With nine kids (though only eight at home right now) this house is usually hustling and bustling in the afternoon, but i get to sit back and do nothing. What do i do on vacation? Absolutely nothing. Or something like that.
The drive from Detroit to St. Louis took about eight hours. I took 696, 275, M14, 96, 69, 465, 70, 270, 170, Delmar, Old Bonohomme, Swarthmore, Gay, Amherst, and here i am. In University City most streets are named after colleges.
I made only one stop, right outside Indianapolis (an exit or two west of the west side of 465 on the 70) for gas and water, and that is pretty amazing for me, as i usually have to make numerous pit stops. I guess i did eat and drink less, but i'm still amazed. And with something like 28.45 miles per gallon, i'm sure glad i drive a stick.
In this house alot goes on. While most of the family is in school of some sort, the mother is a part time teacher, and the father a "Rabbinical Field Representative" of the OU, specifically in the area of Kosher.
We also went to a slaughterhouse, a smaller operation in St. Louis where the owner has a deal with a kosher butcher in town. There's a full-time USDA official there checking each animal for who-knows-what, and a few people with blood on there aprons carrying about death as just an everyday thing. With the precision gut cutting, the brain removing after axing the head, it was enough to make me go vegetarian for a few minutes.
We had pizza from Shmeers and played miniature golf at "The Tilt" in Northwest mall. Hmm... The Tilt, so nice of the manager. We came near closing time and took a while. He kicked everyone out but us and we stayed an extra forty(!) minutes. Only on the way out did we realize what he had done, or that we were even late, so we thanked him then. Being that he let us stay without even telling that to us, we felt no pressure, which made it even nicer. I almost feel like going back to thank him again.
The streets here are quite hilly, and parking on a hill is quite common. It's a good thing i got the parking brake fixed. He hasn't driven a clutch in some years, so i asked him to drive mine, and like riding a bike, it just came back. Did it even ever leave? Then again, he forgot the clutch is needed to start the car. Eh.
Overall i'm doing nothing. I'm just glad there so much to do during all this nothingness.

They might not have been notified of this particular concern. Or at least not notified in a civil fashion.

That's still not an excuse not to test it out. They're as bad as Microsoft in putting out trash.

An possible explanation for not having tested it out is that they (presumably) look at the site every day. The disappearance of these links is a rather small change in appearance. And much like proofreading the same article multiple times you're more likely to overlook future errors because you're brain is already familiar with the content so isn't really proc

Which is why they should have a list of things to check for. Being some years old, it should be a matter of rote by now. Otherwise, what are they testing for?
Pudge is an editor and he has written in his journal since I have noticed the problem. So he should be aware of it, unless the editors have some kind of special interface to

Because employers want their employees to look busy, and "testing" is a reliable way to create this illusion.
Unless he doesn't use IE...
Good point. I didn't think of that, as I don't use of those newfangled browsers.
