  • Steak Sauce is like Ketchup: it is an overpowering flavor to mask the flavor of the meat. This makes sense in a hotdog or hamburger (not top grade there usually) but on a steak, where the whole purpose is to enjoy the succulence of the cut, it is blasphemy. A good strip or sirloin is probably the best food imaginable.
    • Agreed... except for strip or sirloin. My friend, the Ribeye is the best cut of meat (and I'm including the filet in that list... filet is #2 in my book). Ribeye has the best marbling of fat to give the best flavor. I'm a steak snob.

One time my wife put A1 on a steak I cooked for her. I punched her so hard I knocked out 3 teeth!
Ok, I didn't punch her, but I did give her a hard time for desecrating the delicious steak I cooked for her.

A steak seasoned (ever so lightly) with oil and salt (pretreated
      • My dad told me once that people who put sauce on their steak are people who don't like steak;-) I always like mine as plain as possible, though I do love an endcut of Prime Rib that has been seasoned. Yum!

BTW, can you kick down the Forgotten Chicken recipe, or is it secret? I've never heard of it but if it gets your endorsement and its comfort food, then its got to be good;-)

    • Which is exactly why I had some A1 with the "filet mignon" at the wedding.
Trust me, you woulda, too. (but all the rest of the food was dynamite, so I don't understand...)
      • As far as sauces and meat I do make an exception.
You reminded me of the last wedding I went to. Roast Beef is always better with a good horsradish sauce :)
      • You sure seem to hit a lot of weddings, Freedom. Popular dancefloor guests, you and the First Lady? ;p I never understand wedding food. Usually it is just like a bumped quality buffet and I'm never that blown away. Only when its catered by a specific place (like, I dunno Veccaros) do I think it's a treat.
        • Popular dancefloor guests, you and the First Lady?

Oh you don't know the HALF!! Its like Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty getting Fourth-of-July FONK-AY right in front of you. If it wasn't free as liberty, you'd have to pay for the appearance! (Actually, I think that's a tautology...)

As for the food quality its usually all over the place. I really think my friends broke MADD BANK on this one, and everything was a real cut above. 'cept for the steak. I shoulda gone with the lobster. But OHMIGOD, the cannolis
  • fart and they all wrinkle their noses.
