Journal PopeRatzo's Journal: More Than Enough - Comcast declares war on Tor 31

If you haven't dumped Comcast yet, you better hurry:

http://www.deepdotweb.com/2014/09/13/comcast-declares-war-tor/

Reports have surfaced (Via /r/darknetmarkets and another one submitted to us) that Comcast agents have contacted customers using Tor and instructed them to stop using the browser or risk termination of service. A Comcast agent named Jeremy allegedly called Tor an âoeillegal service.â The Comcast agent told its customer that such activity is against usage policies.
The Comcast agent then repeatedly asked the customer to tell him what sites he was accessing on the Tor browser. The customer refused to answer.
The next day the customer called Comcast and spoke to another agent named Kelly who reiterated that Comcast does not want its customers using Tor. The Comcast agent then allegedly told the customer:

"Users who try to use anonymity, or cover themselves up on the internet, are usually doing things that arenâ(TM)t so-to-speak legal. We have the right to terminate, fine, or suspend your account at anytime due to you violating the rules. Do you have any other questions? Thank you for contacting Comcast, have a great day."

  • The cable companies have such a stranglehold on local high-speed internet in some markets that people don't have any other practical choice. If your choice is either cable - and deal with the awful terms and atrocious customer service - or dial-up, you will almost certainly go with the former.

Some markets are starting to see various fibre-to-the-home initiatives (usually by local telcos) that might give cable a run for their money, we'll see how that pans out. Downside is you often end up talking about
    • Yeah well, the morons and idiots who reelect the politicians that make all this happen have only themselves to blame. They can all bugger off. They got what they wanted. This is what majority rule will get you every time. Those silly little "initiatives" are entirely superficial. Until you address the basic issue, the problem will stay with you. You seen to believe in the same fairytale of the market that Smith does. There is no competition. The system, especially in the basics of communications, energy, tr

I've tried to talk you out of an authoritarian hell, but, hey: Progress!

        • You have never tried to do such a thing. You only want to bring back the old brand of hell, in pastels, yuck!

          • Liberty is only hell to the carefully indoctrinated Commie sheeple. For those with a knowledge of History and Economics there never was any hell. You whinge on about ME spewing memes, and look at you in all your glory, splendid one.
            • You would sound almost believable if you believed in liberty for all... But you don't, so you aren't.

              • If you haven't known Christ, you haven't known liberty. Would that you knew what you're missing.
                • Oh bla bla bla... I'm not the one itchin' for another war, but with republicans in charge.

                • If you haven't known Christ, you haven't known liberty. Would that you knew what you're missing.

Judging by the ones who loudly proclaim their Christianity, he's not missing much.

                  • It's all fun and games until the Almighty taps the 'smite' button.
                  • Just to follow up my preceding response, I'm not coming out in strong agreement Bryan Fischer. He's certainly channeling some Old Testament prophet thinking, with the vast difference that they were understood to be proper prophets. Fischer, not so much. Thus, everyone should prayerfully repent as required, but it's far from clear that there is any judgement coming prior to the Apocalypse.
I really don't traffic in fear and guilt: sorry.

OMG! ROFLMAO! Knock me over with a feather!

                    • Serious as lung cancer. Glad if you bot a belly laugh out of a non-joke.
                    • Serious as lung cancer.

In that case, you're being downright deceitful. Only terrorists (the FOX definition) have a bigger market in fear. I'll give the guilt thing to the Catholics.

                    • ...you're being downright deceitful.

Are you giving me the Full Damn_Registrars here?
I may have ventured into occasional hyperbole for comic effect, sir, but Let Me Be Perfectly Clear: I'm not wasting anyone's time by being less than honest about anything. So if you're accusing me of being a fear merchant, we can cease communications.
If you're making a general point about the full spectrum of "christianity", then sure: you can trivially find any example of any perversion under the sun.

                    • Accusing me of being a fear merchant is exactly the same thing as saying that all Muslims are terrorists, based upon the madness of a fraction of the lot.

Yes, well, you've already done that. Through your religion you are indeed a fear merchant. If you want to quit over that, fine with me. I'm only telling the truth about your business that you are in...

                    • Yes, well, you've already done that.

Got anything more than a smear to back that, Pap? When have I, personally, ever behaved so?

      • the morons and idiots who reelect the politicians that make all this happen have only themselves to blame

And who are the anti-capitalist-empire candidates, pray tell? I haven't seen any. The empire is simply too strong for anyone to mount a resistance at the ballot box. Voting for Mickey Mouse doesn't accomplish anything either.

        • You have to seek them out and nominate them your damn selves. You and all the others are relying on mass media to do your own job. So, screw you if you don't like what you see on your ballots. Besides, you got write ins, should you decide to use them. I have no sympathy of any kind when you stick with the devil you know.

          • Again, voting for Mickey Mouse doesn't change anything. You need a candidate who can actually compete against the machine, and you have yet to show an example of such a candidate. All you can do is vote for the least evil candidate and hope for the best.
            • All you can do is vote for the least evil candidate and hope for the best.,

Nope, that's bullshit. That is what puts us where we are today. I'll repeat to you what I've said before, your "lesser evil" is completely owned by regular evil. You're just copping out of your own obligations. If you keep on playing this silly game, you will get what you deserve, and I can only point out that YOU are the reason nothing changes. YOU are rewarding evil. Those are the facts... Take it or leave it. I will sit back and

        • And who are the anti-capitalist-empire candidates, pray tell?

They're out there. You don't think Senator Bernie Sanders being invited for the first time to Meet the Press this weekend after 24 years in the Senate doesn't make the Koch Brothers' assholes pucker a little bit?

I think there's a lot of untapped anger out there. Even some tea party types I know are starting to sound a lot like Bernie Sanders, but they don't know it. Things could break funny in a year like this. How funny would a Bernie Sander

I am about as big of a fan of Bernie Sanders as any person you will ever find (particularly hanging out in a conservative echo chamber like slashdot). However I am also enough of a realist to know that

            • He will never run for president
              • and
            • His ideas for dismantling the for-profit stranglehold on our federal government will never gain any traction during my lifetime (unless our country finally calls it enough and splits into two or more independent nations).

How funny would a Bernie Sanders/Rand Paul contest be?

I would love to see Bernie Sanders take on the cul

          • People with little influence can say a lot of things, but all observations indicate that when people start listening and they become an actual threat, they will be dealt with accordingly. Authority is a little like raw meat, you don't go back to Kibble 'n Bits. And with real power in DC comes the gun to your head. You will follow orders as long as it wins elections. I'm not kidding when I say the world is run by gangsters. None of these guys want to wake up to see their dicks posted on Twitter. And right no

For God's sake, stop researching for a while and begin to think!
