Always sad to see one of the best retire. Mario was an inspiration.

Who's next?

First Palffy, now Mario... who else is going to retire on the Pens soon? LeClair? Recchi?

At least their guys down on the farm will be excited about all the new openings.

An interesting question is how this impacts the Pens' salary cap figures. If a guy retires, do they get any sort of relief to go out and get someone else?

From what I understand, they get 1/4 of their salary for the year they retire and that's it, but don't quote me on that. It's just what I heard through the grapevine. So it should free up a lot of cash.

Recchi will be the next to retire. He resigned with the Pens just so he could retire a Penguin. My guess is that it will be at the end of the year.

Now if only we could play the Crapitals every night ...
