I'm looking to start a web page again, only this time, not using my current tripod one.

While I did enjoy the GoDaddy commercial, I am quite sure that there are other companies that will do the hosting and domain thing for me.

What are some companies that you guys are using for hosting and such?

  • I host my own server, but still use godaddy for my domain name. Dirt cheap, fantastic service, 100X better than network solutions and like 500X cheaper.

    As far as hosting a website, only person I'd go with is SlashChick [simpli.biz]. Tell'er FK sent ya.

  • I use dreamhost [dreamhost.com] (yes, that's a referrel link and that's one reason I still use them.)
    One click installs of WordPress, Joomla (formerly Mambo), Wiki, Gallery, and others.
    If you buy the domain through them with your hosting plan, it's FREE! That's right, FREE!

    They host on Debian and are real good with notifications. Only issue was when all of LA lost their power and both of their backup power generators died, but that was only an issue for a few hours and caused them to redeploy their backup stuff.
