puzzled's Journal: Slashdot stories OK, comments are worthless

I've been reading Slashdot for about nine years now. There have always been trolls and cretins as a component of the peanut gallery, but as the userids go higher the clue seems to decrease. I think I'll still read stories but starting 2/20/2006 I'm just not going to comment any more - I might as well try to have a technical discussion with one of the homeless people that haunts the park across from the downtown library as say anything of value here.

I mean, not comments so much, but lately, journal entries of "friends" are going WAY down in quality. Used to be there'd be quality stuff in there, you know, job satisfaction problems, death of a pet, someone looking for work or a worker, but lately, well, meh...

  Slashdot comments look for all the world like trolls on a stock board - an endless flood of noise calculated to drown out any signal. I had a good run last year writing erotica from the perspective of a happily attached twenty something woman ... and I may just revive her as a creative outlet, cause Slashdot just any worth the bits any more.
