Journal BarbaraHudson's Journal: Revisiting old works ... 11

I was looking back at my old "Gender Education" series. Can't believe it will be NINE YEARS in December. Wow.

It was good for its' time, but it's dated, and isn't the approach I would take today. The world has changed, I have changed, yadda yadda yadda. So, I'm going to revisit the topic, inserting it into my workflow before my other stuff. Should make a good free ebook.

  • I'm thinking of a 10 year retrospective on the Burma Shave troll.
Really dry humor treating the banal as high art just kinda tickles me.
    • Next Tuesday? [tt]
      • Next May or so.
        • That's a LONG ways off :-)
          • Not for planning purposes. :-)
            • Fair enough. If I can still see well enough to use a computer next May, count me in.
              • Well, that's an alarming note.
                • Why? I "should" have at least 2-3 more years of more-or-less stable sight according to one of my doctors. Reading with one eye is 1,000% better than reading with NO eyes :-) And I can see well enough out of my bad eye to usually see cars coming and stuff like that, so I'm happy. There's no more of the bleeding that was going on for the last 3 years, and the surgeons removed the accumulated blood, clots, and the membrane on the retina's surface that rendered my "bad" eye completely blind for a while, and

                  • My father turns 70 this year, and his years of hard living have resulted in diabetes and other issues that are have rendered him more or less legally blind. Total bummer.
I hope that your situation remains stable, if not improves.
                    • Unfortunately, diabetes is the #1 cause of blindness in North America. Even if you keep your blood sugar below normal most of the time, the eyes will still get it in the end, thanks to other factors such as hypertension. It sucks, but it's far better than the alternatives - and I hope to see 100, by which time we'll have implants and stuff.

On another note, this is the 5th story in a row that I've submitted that's been accepted [slashdot.org]. So I'm having fun, because it IS good to be back and reconnect with the gan

                    • Yeah, it's an eclectic bunch. If I didn't love this crowd, warts and all, I'd certainly not spend such time here.

A motion to adjourn is always in order.
