  • I have a model M.
I couldn't imagine using anything else.
I might have to go to Ebay to find more.
It's just hard to type when you don't have the feedback to know if the letter "went through."
In cases like Email and remotes if nothing happens you can't find out.

Do you know where I might be able to find any offline?
I would rather go to a brick and morter store than use the internet.
    • IBM Model M, in US version. Just enable 'US International' and head over to this site [usna.edu] for learning the most common stuff you are missing.

I don't want no weak keyboards anymore... Well, I do miss the Windows key for Win-E, Win-L, Win-R (and a few more), but I accept that price. (And the day I switch to Linux the Windows key has no use anymore, anyway)

    • I hear you. I can deal with any keyboard that has some resistance to it so that I know when the key is pressed. I touch type usually while reading another part of the screen than I am typing on so I need to know the letter I pressed "went through" or I have to pause constantly to double check. Amazingly work upgraded our computers recently and the keyboards they came with (despite the "by Microsoft" label below the "Alienware" one) are excellent for touch typing. They have just enough resistance to know the
  • I know the feeling.

I have a French-Canadian keyboard that I use every once in a while, mostly when I need to atone for my sins. :)
  • ... for NOT buying the cheapest keyboard around.

I stopped paying big bucks for keyboards ages ago - the cheaper ones are built better. $12.99 and they last for (on average) 5 years, and have great keytouch, and resist wear and tear from dog drool, eating over them, etc.

Why? Because they've been made with the least possible amount of parts, and, like the Model T, they're stamped out by the millions, so there's a lot less to go wrong. And if/when you take one apart, you can usually get it back together a

    • ;) To tell zou the truth I spilt a glass of wine on it ..
The apple keyboard has been rock solid so far , but it just couldn"t handle a glass of wine .
    • I've tried expensive and cheap keyboards, and found that I pretty much hate them all. The only keyboard I've really liked was my Gateway "Anykey" keyboard circa 1992. I bought several replacements off ebay, and am still using one at work. I've moved to a USB keyboard at home for purposes of a USB KVM, so I'm using a $9.99 keyboard. Don't like it, but I've grown used to the feel. I wish I knew of a good way to find a keyboard that I'm really happy with, other than going to the Big Box store and just pla

      • The worst keyboard I ever bought was one with a built-in trackball instead of cursor keys. I thought it would be a good idea, tried it for a minute and went "yeah, this could work."

I should have tried it for 2 minutes. Because that's the sum and total time I used it after I plugged it in before I gave it away. I've always hated trackballs. I don't know what possessed me to think that one embedded in a keyboard would be any better ...

        Second-worst keyboard - a really cool-looking "mini" keyboard that's h

        • I actually like the keyboard on my Powerbook...And while I prefer the touchpad over the "eraser numbby", I will go to a lot of effort to carry around an external mouse - and not one of those obnoxious 1-button Apple jobs, either. I'm a 3-button kind of guy.
  • was totally free. It's an original Swiftboard, and you can't have it. Gotta love millions of dot-com dollars used to buy keyboards for strangers without any committment at all.
