And I had to randomly move my mouse around until it turned into a little hand to figure out how to read the comments on this entry. I think it works in Firefox, though.

It seems to meet CmdrTaco's criteria, it keeps elements of the old design, but looks newer and cleaner. It's not mind-blowing or anything, but it's not bad.

I also fall into the "it looks nice" side. I like the java / whatever that controlls the topic expansion on the left.

Ahhh every time you view a new page, those two sections are refreshed to be open. Not a horrible design, and given that those are the companies supporting /. I think it isn't too much to deal with. I have to say thatI never noticed them on the old site design.
