BigCheese's Journal: A Win for Science! Moderates recapture Kansas school board

As a Kansan I'm relieved. I live in Overland Park which was recently listed as the 6th best city to live in by Money magazine. We have highly ranked the Blue Valley and Shawnee Mission school districts here but, as nice as it is now it we could easily become just another hick Midwest town if the creationist idiots get their way. I am already hearing reports that staff at the University of Kansas and they are already having their credentials questioned just because they went to school here.

Hopefully, they won't be able to get in again. Before there was there is so little interest in or information about the school board elections that it just took a couple of megachurches full of sheeple to slip a crazy on to the board. Now, there are a number of groups keeping a watch on the candidates so the stealth fundies will have a harder time getting in.

Science Doesn't Need to "Win"

Science just is. Science doesn't care if stupid people make stupid public policy. That's not a "loss" for science, it's a loss for society. Likewise, the reversal is not a "win" for science, it's a win for society.

Science was in no way, shape, or form impacted by the idiots in Kansas. Only the schoolchildren suffered for their ignorance.
