Journal FortKnox's Journal: [FFL] Its that time... 16

For those that don't know the tag, FFL stands for Fantasy Football League.

Ok, there are two audiences for this journal:
1.) Those that are in the slashdot keeper league or would like to be.
2.) Those that want to play in a free single-season league.
No fears if you don't know football, or don't understand fantasy football. You can be taught pretty easily. All I ask out of #2 is that you spend an hour (or less) a week setting up your lineup, and a couple hours within the next few weeks to draft players (you can autodraft and stuff, which doesn't take anytime).

Anywho, for the keepers:
I need to know who is in and who isn't in. NFL.com still has all the details, including placing and rosters (and they just added a bunch of new features for keeper leagues, so I'd like to stick with them).
I can't remember how many we kept last year, but 3 or 4 seems to be right. Which will it be? Also, would you like any rules to change? Did it seem like one position always got more points than others? Did one position not matter as far as poitns? We want to kind of even it all out if we can...
Also, I'm guessing not everyone will want to keep on keeping on with the keepers league, so I'd like to ask anyone else if they'd like to jump in. There is a cost, but its usually less than $15 (it was $13 last year).
If you are a keeper and want to stay, please send me an email or leave a comment here. If you want to join in, do the same.

Group #2... we can just make a quickie yahoo or nfl.com free league. I'll be happy to set it up, but I'd like 6-8 people, minimum to run a team (if we have over 12, we can split into two leagues). Anyone up for it? I'll even be HAPPY to teach football and/or fantasy football to anyone that's willing!

  • I would like to join up - since I moved last fall and wasn't able to get in the FFL at my new work, I'm facing my first non-FFL season in 10 years! If you've got a spot in the keeper league, I'd love to join, otherwise I'll go for #2...
  • 3 keepers.
  • ...and the 7-2-4, since I work in one and live in the other... anyway...

Hells, yeah! Da Pittsburgh Yinzers are back, 'n'at!

I think we kept 3 last year. Seems like a good number to me.

  • Yes in principle. However, what's a "keeper league"? FWIW, I've just picked my team[1] for our fantasy football league over here, as the season starts in a couple of weeks.

[1] Actually, I've placed my bids for players in the first round of auctions. We'll see how many I actually got on Monday when the auction closes.

    • Keeper league is the same as a regular league except for two points:
1.) You keep certain players (in our league, we keep 3 players from last year that were on our team).
2.) Instead of 'snaking' on the draft, the order is determined by the placement in the year before.

I have no idea what you're talking about here :-) I know the basics of the game, but I have no idea what the draft is, or how it works. Of all the US team sports, American Football is the only one that seems to have any real merit to me (I never did get baseball, and basketball and ice hockey just don't do anything for me).

I'm guessing I'll be going for option 2, and sticking with a simple one season league. I

  • I thought you meant Federal Firearms License.
  • I'm gameboy for this. Got my new Pharrell Milo up as my new logo. I guess we also save some $$$ if we get in our fee by the 17th.
  • Sounds like the other football.
  • Count me in for another year FFL. I'm would prefer the keeper league, but I'm up for a clean slate as well.
  • I haven't heard anything about FFL in awhile. When do you expect to do the draft?
    • Sorry... I was letting people get time to figure out when to do stuff. I'll get'er started asap. Just been busy at work and at home...
      • If your interested, one thing I could do is setup up a mailman mailing list for fantasy football if you think that would be semi-useful.
        • Definately. I was thinking about building a majordomo, but if someone else could build the list, it'd be uberhelpful...
          • The list admin is setup for you access it. Please ignore the first notification e-mail, I screwed up the address. The second notification should have the correct admin address. You should be able to login and add people to the list.
