In Flames -- catching up with the times, now MALLCORE!

Comments Filter:
  • In flames kicks ass, A friend sent me a few of their cds.
I swear In Flames - Whoracle - Dialogue With The Stars' guitar is the same as the music on megman 2's woodman stage for the nes. I need to find a midi of the woodman stage and compare it sometime (yes, i have too much time on my hands)
    • (actually not trolling as a mallcore fan now)

The post above was a reverse troll post mostly about how In Flames sold out and went pretty much mallcore with their past two albums, particularly Reroute to Remain :(

If you like the older In Flames stuff (Whoracle, Lunar Strain, Jester Race, etc), you'd probably also like a band called "Children of Bodom" -- they're actually faster and more melodic than In Flames, almost like a power metal band, though the lead singer sounds a bit like the singer from Carcass and Dani Filth and the lyrics are evil, which is OK with me.

Children of Bodom play some very fast, complicated stuff that rivals just about everything else out there today; it's about time someone brought skill back instead of just drop-tuning and playing one string.

I wouldn't say Dialogue With the Stars sounds like the Woodman theme, as I've heard both recently, though a lot of melodic / power metal bears a close resemblance to a lot of Japanese video game music, particularly the Castlevania games.
      • I'm not sure about dates on the cds.. i just grabbed everything i could. knowing my friend, they're probably the old cds.
And you're right, i did recently hear the woodman theme again, and they're similer but not enough to match.
        • If they're melodic, they're old. If they sound like Korn, they're new.

In Flames backstabbed their fanbase with their last two albums and turned to mallcore so they could tour with Slipknot and make the megabucks.

In Flames were fucking awesome, too, it's a god damned shame... now they're doing the play-one-detuned-string while bent over with the pseudo-angry vocals like about a billion other bands.

Now I wouldn't piss on them if they were in flames...
    • A band called the Minibosses covers NES songs with guitar, drums, and bass. Megaman2 is one of their tracks. Check them out: http://www.minibosses.com They kick some serious ass.
      • They are pretty good, but its almost too close to the original. It'd be nice to hear them covered into a different genre. I guess i'll stick to overclocked remix's (google for it).
If it wasnt for the fact that i'm a no talent assclown, i'd start a band and cover game songs.
      • I have been for about 1-2 years now; and yes, they do kick serious ass. All of them are superb musicians, and they do their covers very well; the Contra one, in particular, impressed the hell out of me.

There are two ways to write error-free programs; only the third one works.
