Eweek is reporting that Sun will Open-Source Java under the GPLv2. The portions of Java to be released are:
JAVA SE
JAVA ME
JEE

This includes the Java Runtime Environment and the Java SDK, which should ease the integration of Java into linux-distributions.

Netbeans and Catfish will be relicensed under the CDDL and the GPLv2.
