Journal felonious's Journal: Virtuousness

First off, I hate Tom Cruise:D With that out of the way, I'll get back on point...
Last night I finally decided to watch "The Last Samurai". What an amazing movie.

Movies like that and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", are so incredibly beautiful, in terms of the virtuousness they present. I can't even imagine living in a society, like the ones presented, in the previously mentioned movies. I love all of my technology, gear, and all of that, but when it comes to the big picture, and what matters, none of what I possess, materially, is worth a shit.

I'm an American and we seemed to have cornered the market on cons, lies, trivializing life's important subjects, mass consumerism, environmental destruction, selfishness, thinking we're better than everyone else, to ad nauseam. I really have no idea what it'd take for our perverted, I don't mean that in a sexual manner, society to get a grip and start to look at the big picture, to care about more than what we own and what's on t.v. We are doomed if we continue along this route as we are resting on past laurels, while ignoring our shortcomings, and not over-coming them. There are many countries who are taking over many facets of science, technology, world leadership, etc. We are a nation of lazy, spoiled, fat, rude, know-it-alls, who need a wake up call. The funny thing is I don't see this happening, nor do I see an event that will make it happen.

If you take a look and learn about numerous other cultures out there, you will see they want to learn more about the world, as a whole, instead of never sticking foot outside of their country or trying to learn something different than what was taught in their homeland. We need different philosophies introduced into our society, different, outlooks, different political systems, as apposed to one that is based on politicking and not what's best for the country. I loathe democrats and republicans, equally, because they are always trying to one-up each other instead of taking care of business. That's another issue, altogether, but it's part of the problem.

Our society is the worst when it comes to personal responsibility. There's nowhere else, on this earth, where you can go, without being responsible for your own actions. This is endemic to our society and it's a national embarrassment. With our national program on irresponsibility comes our addiction to frivolous lawsuits and always trying to work the system. Do our citizens know, or even care, that we are known for these things? Our previous generations took pride in the things they did, no matter what it was. As it stands we have fast food workers who can't even be polite to paying customers because they don't give a shit.

People better wake up and start to realize that the US isn't immune from being a ex-super power. The way we're going with our lazy, prescription addicted, McDonalds eating, up and coming(oxy moron) generation, I can only say we are doomed. I say this because no one seems to give a shit any longer. We could be great again is we could instill some virtuousness, work ethic, and personal responsibility back into the equation. I'm sorry to say, those seem to be, all but distant memories.

R.I.P. What we used to be.....
