Journal eglamkowski's Journal: See, the left doesn't hate Christianity 10

Nobody on the left seems to be screaming bloody murder over this Barack as Jesus thing. In fact, they seem to kind of like it. As with all things, as long as it's one of their own, it's not a problem. It's only when it relates favorably to the OTHER SIDE that they have a problem with it :-p

Wait, it is Tuesday today, right? :-)

    • If Obama passes for "left", there really is no spectrum in the US. It's like a nation that goes from Infrared, up to the edge of red-orange. If there is a noticable tinge of yellow - oh! It's "left", never mind that the rest of the civil societeies in existance may function with shades as far over as green or blue green in the broader government.

The Constitution provides for the establishment of a military force. It does not, as much as you wish it to be so, provide for your favorite welfare-state programs.

        • I didn't advocate any "welfare programs".

I questioned 78% of confiscated earnings supporting a military budget 2.5 times that of the nearest competitor.

          Reactionary.

Comparisons to others' budget priorities are irrelevant. If I were you, I'd be more concerned about the 57% wasted on welfare [irs.gov] (go to page 83) than on the 24% that enables you to speak whatever ill-formed thoughts your mind conjures up.

            • You still haven't answered his question, you cum dodger. You're not a fan of big government but you are a fan of big military, correct?
            • That chart - on the Fed Tax Sheet - is an example of "...but liars can figure."

Do you really advocate that the US should spend more on Israel as a military appropriation, than it should on Louisiana to assuage the destruction from a disaster? Because of a doctrinary interpretation of Constitutional provision for appropriations?

Being against war and empire != "Left". Visit www.antiwar.com for the anti-Internationalist, anti-War conservatve focus. Being pro

Well, you'd have to admit that Obama is at least a pinko*, since his Congressional voting record is more left-wing [realcities.com] than that of Dennis Kucinich, who, according to the Communist Party USA, "has pledged his first act as president [worldnetdaily.com] [during the 2004 election campaign] will be to repeal NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) and the WTO (World Trade Organization). • It's been a long time since the chambers of power in the US were home to any sort of political diversity. I've been bemoaning here in my JE for years that we have a One Party system.
  • What is there to scream about? The artist meant it as a not-so-subtle critique of Obama, in particular how people are salivating over him as if he's some kind of savior. Obama's campaign is trying to distance themselves from it. So I don't see what the problem is, even as a Christian.

People on both sides of the aisle use Jesus images, halos, crosses, Sacred Hearts and whatnot all the time to make a political point. This is hardly new. If anything as a leftish person I ought to be annoyed that Obama is bei
