Just Two Hours Into FFXII...

Role Playing (Games) 2

After a total of two hours of playing FFXII, I've apparently managed to screw up to the point it's no longer worth playing the game.

Apparently, if you open certain chests in the game, you lose the ability to get the best equipment in the game. One of these chests is very early in the game.

After opening, there's no point in playing any more. Just restart, it's done, you'll never be able to complete the game.

Someone has to explain to me why anyone would want to play a game like that?

I already put off buying this game until I found it in the bargain bin, but with crap like that, I'm already regretting buying it a mere two hours after starting to play it.

Seriously, what the fuck, Square-Enix?!

you don't need it (0)

if you need unbalanced weapons to win Final Fantasy 12, then you're a moron.

Just level up to around level 45 (easy if you're hunting marks) and you'll tear the final boss a new one easily.

I'm more referring to optional side-quests, which do become effectively impossible without it.

Yeah, I could probably churn through the game with the knowledge that if I ever wanted to do any of the optional stuff I'd have to play through again - but why bother? It makes more sense just to restart now rather than play through and then restart.

Besides, based on the early game, it's not like the story is any compelling reason to play the game. You have to love a game where every character they show you in the opening movie dies by the end of the tutorial.
