I think all the parts add up to around $210. Tools to assemble it could add up to quite a bit more. I was lucky enough to have a grandfather that was a gunsmith and I inherited all his tools and equipment. Milling machine, lathe, drill press, grinders, etc. I had to modify a pair of bolt cutters to set some of the rivets. If you go with a different build method, like screws instead of rivets, it can be much simpler and cheaper.
      • Hey, not too shabby and the price is right! I wanted to build up one of those old dot 50 kits, hemmed and hawed around, procrastinated, then waited too long and the feds shut the guy down. Those maadi-griffins. Now they are way too high, along with anything else, for my wallet anyway. I have no idea what I would do with one, once a year shoot up 55 gallon drums full of...uhh water, that's the ticket..water. What is it, ten bucks a round now or something? Whatever, high, outta my price range.

        This is funny,lo

Yep I've got a machine shop; plus a lot of gunsmithing specific tools like action wrenches, barrel vices, stock inletting tools, bore scope, chamber reamers, headspace gauges, jigs and fixtures for various things.

It's kind of fun on some of the gun boards to discuss the feasibility of various gun projects. Someone always comes along and mentions that unless you've got several thousand dollars worth of X, Y, & Z tools or you want to spend an arm and a leg on a professional smith, it's totally unfeasible.
  • I prefer AR builds, though. I need to get another one going soon. :D
