Journal arkane1234's Journal: First "real" thanksgiving/christmas with my family

I don't usually post things to my journal, but I wanted to remember this one for years to come.

This is the first year I am spending thanksgiving and christmas with my immediate family... my wife and my daughter. I've been married for a year and a half, and we've always gone to relatives houses, but this is the first time we are starting our own traditions, values. It feels kinda neat in a way, making our own mark that our daughter can look back on and remember like I remember my family traditions. My parents live on the other side of the United States but are visiting for Christmas, so they will be included in our Christmas traditions. It ought to be an interesting time, and makes me feel like more of a husband. Kinda sappy, but it's called growing up. LOL

I'm waiting for Christmas morning when the tree (artificial of course) is lit up, the heater going slightly, and the family is gathered around while my daughter is all jittery with anticipation, diving into the presents while reading the labels to see what is what. My grandmother passed away when I was 16 right before Christmas and it has never been the same since... maybe this could bring the holiday cheer back to me...
