Chmcginn's Journal: Spokey!

Replying to this was exactly what I wanted you to do - there isn't a pm option on slashdot. I think I've got this set up so only you can see get to my journal entries now. Had to subscribe for a month to do that, though... grumble grumble. At least it's only five bucks.

I can't get on lj because I forgot my password, and I'd have to log into my nc.rr.com email address to get it reset - which I can't do, because they block all web-based email services. It's dumb.

But we should be home pretty soon, so I suppose we can continue to deal with it... They have been sending you emails to keep you up on the situation, right? Somehow in the week that we had no internet, the email portion of the server got so backlogged that it won't do anything now. And apparently nobody on board knows how to fix it, so we're stuck like this till we get home.

you can just create a new LJ account or since you can get email I can create one for you and just give you the password. Or I suppose we can just do this. Replying to your entires isn't hard. They really haven't updated us on anything other than to say, "don't email them, they have the internet back and they'll be home on time." That's about it, and that was one email. Well, I still don't know if we're getting emails from outside the CG... I've gotten ones from people off the ship (my a-school roommate, for instance), but they've taken days to get here, and I don't think I've gotten any from a non-cg email address.

So how's everything been the last couple of weeks? We've having about as much fun as normal. The weather hasn't been too bad, so at least stuff not's falling down all over the place like normal. How is the zoo doing?

K, I emailed him. You know, all this can be seen publicly, I just can't reply to it unless I'm logged in. I guess it doesn't matter for the next few days. The weasels did pretty good with the box having left them alone for a couple days, they only went in the corner the box was in once it got too much for them. I'm proud, I hate washing their stuff so often because they can;t scoot their butts back a foot. Still settling back in, stuff to do.... Love you! Can't wait until you get home! -Spokey

Well, I was thinking of taking two weeks anyway - I'll take the week before and the week after that, so as long as they don't move it more than one week, I can show up. Whether or not you can is up to you (and your work.) I'll go ahead & put in leave from the 6th to the 17th of august, so I'll be covered for all three weekends.

Ugh, it's all gonna depend. I think there is ONE person I could ask who would cover me, and that's assuming it wasn't already his weekend. Oh wait, I just checked and he's already on that weekend. I can try to bribe the one tech by working extra hours for her... but I can't make any promises and I really need them to set that in stone because if they move it I'm fucked. Bleah, that sucks... hopefully some kinda miracle will happen, but if not, I guess we can all deal. After I get out, wherever/whenever we end up moving, we really both need to get monday-friday types of jobs that won't have this problem coming up every time we try to plan something like this.

I shouldn't have duty until Thursday, if then - Wednesday might be our last day, so I might not even have to stay that night. It would be nice... Nothing much else going on here, just cleaning this place constantly
