Journal IamBMETammy's Journal: Hanging on... 8

I haven't deleted this account yet, but I'm thinking about it. I check my messages now and then. I was excited to see one from ellem, even if it is just a place holder. But mostly it is just poetry from johndiii, which is intended for one specific target, and a sprinkling of posts from a few others.

The people who stayed all have new journals to read or have drifted away from slashdot. And I see most of the people who left. Actually I see a lot of people, people I never knew on here but that I've become fond of since getting to know them.

So... I guess I could delete this. But I won't. I hate putting things away. I could do what Nizo and tuxette have done and cross post the things I post on multiply, but I don't think there'd be anyone left to really read them or that anyone misses me in particular. I am a social poster, and most of slashdot is news/technology/politically oriented, s I fit better at multiply.

  • and only here. The truth is there really isn't much to read here, so I enjoy each and every post to my inbox. I miss everyone (even you in particular) that has left. But I can't bring myself to join multiply, and I don't ever remember to check over there. You gotta do what you gotta do though.

  • I was surprised to see the alert in my email. I haven't gotten a /. JE post in months.

Facebook does have the nice aspect of auto incorporating an extrenal RSS feed, making it's centrality in life more steadfast.
  • If you weren't paying attention, you likely missed "Officers find ecstasy in Mr. Potato Head" [slashdot.org]. :-)

While the poetry is directed at Koria (who has returned [slashdot.org], if intermittently for the time being), it is there for all to read. Some of them are very good, and the quest to find good poems to post had widened my horizons in that area considerably.

I liked your blog entry about sex a while back, though many of the replies indicated (at least to me) that most people did not really understand. I left my opinion on t
  • Everything in life has its ebbs and flows. Maybe Slashdot won't recover; I really don't know.
All I know is that you would be missed were you to leave permanently. Your personality is so distinct. Not many people here have the same interests as you, and that is what makes reading your entries (or anticipating interesting and unique entries that I suspect that you would write given time) most interesting. I would actually like to see more about body mods and such posted here.

    • I'll second that, rather than blather on myself :-)

Okay, I'll blather a bit ... I just found multiply to be too much information ... everyone's interesting, everyone's fun, and there aren't enough hours in the day ...

On the upside, now that I hardly ever post here I get mod points all the time. Muhahahahaha..... :-)

Oh and having to wait between posts here annoys the crap out of me.
        • You get MOD POINTS?

I haven't seen them in ... gee, I don't know how many years.

Not that it makes a difference. My karma is always at the cap, no matter how shamelessly I troll :-)

  • ...to crosspost here. Most of my stuff is on Multiply. My travel stuff is on flickr and blogspot. I'll give notice once my South Africa II stuff goes up...

If you think the system is working, ask someone who's waiting for a prompt.
