donak's Journal: Starting a Micro-LUG?

I've been using Linux on the desktop for some time now. I recently started using _only_ Linux on my personal PC at home (the work PC has Windows XP).

I've been watching and waiting for the opportunity to get together with others of "like interest" for some time now.

But I was starting to believe there weren't any in my home town Rockhampton, and this was confirmed by a person I gave a disc to, who commented I was one of only two people he knew, who used Linux.

So, when I saw jedimark's comment ("... another Linux nerd in Rockhampton ...") I got excited! But not too much, he/she might be the only other one already mentioned.

Earlier this year, I made a suggestion/request of Linux Australia that I would try to set up a "Micro-LUG" being just a loose organisation to meet occasionally, without any great formality. I didn't pursue it then, but I guess it's worth a try now. I bag membership number 1!
