Fox Lied, Records Died

United States 9

Joe Buck said that tonight's game was the longest ever 9-inning postseason game at 4 hours, 19 minutes.

Well, I happened to remember that Games 3, 4, and 5 of the 2004 ALCS were all about 3/4-hour apart. Game 3 was about 4:15 and was 9 innings, and Game 5 was about 5:00 in extra innings, and Game 6 was about 5:45 in extra innings.

So I looked it up. They were 4:20, 5:02, and 5:49.

So no, in fact, Game 3 of the 2004 ALCS was a longer 9-inning postseason game. Maybe he meant World Series history? Whatever. He's a liar!

Anyway, this should be instructive to the Red Sox, regardless: the last time this happened -- a 4:20-ish 9-inning game on the road for a team to take a 3-0 series lead -- the team down 0-3 eneded up winning the series.

Go Sox!

He said it multiple times. The time I heard in particular he said playoffs. He may have said "World Series" another time.

Didn't see it... too busy watching Ohio State destroy Penn State...

Exactly - then the National Championship really will be a cake walk for the Buckeyes.

Yep. Just like the ALCS was for the other Ohio team. Just like the Browns and Bengals beat the Pats. Just like the Cavs have a chance against the Celtics.

Well, maybe I won't be greedy. You can have this ONE. :-)

That YOU was not YOU, RailGunner, but the state of Ohio. :-)

HEY! Don't drag down the rest of the State just because Cleveland sucks! Back home in Toledo, we have a name for Cleveland: "The Mistake By The Lake"

(You know, Bengals would be better if they quit drafting felons... and got getter uniforms.. what? The Lions are 5-2? Only three more wins and they fulfill my wish of returning to mediocrity? WOO HOO! FIRE MILLEN)

As far as the Cavs go... bleach. Go Pistons.

See, I don't drag down the rest of Michigan because Ann Arbor sucks... ;)

Given their relative rankings, my Nittany Lions didn't do too badly. Frankly I was expecting a shutout.
