Journal Just Some Guy's Journal: Get over it, UbuntuDupe 4

UbuntuDupe screwed up an Ubuntu installation almost two years ago. He still hasn't gotten over it.

UD, let me give you some free advice: move on. Really. You don't even have to admit that you were wrong. Just stop yapping about it and move on.

Do you notice that every time you bring this up, everyone opposes you? It's not because we don't like you, but because even if you were in the right (which you weren't), after two years we simply don't want to hear it anymore. Stop embarrassing yourself and let it die already, OK?

Get over it, UbuntuDupe

  • 1) The Ubuntu folk shouldn't be promoting their OS as "easy". Some people might take that literally, like Mac-buyers.

    2) He should've known that no Linux, despite claims, is going to be easy. Linux will never be easy, because it's produced by elitists who don't really care about making it truly easy.

    3) He should've known that Linux will want to assume that you only want to use it. A familiar attitude.

See, the problem is that he's pretty much the only person alive who had that problem. It will be harder than Windows in some areas and far easier in others. He actually managed to turn one of the easy problems into a difficult one, largely because of his attitude and the chip on his shoulder.

Ubuntu is elitist now? When did that happen? It's generally seen as the least cooler-than-thou distro around. Can you imagine if he'd tried to install LFS or Slackware?

      Shrug. I've been building multi-boot

HAHAHAHA - I could imagine the posts if he was trying to run slack...
That's just the kind of thing to keep me smiling all day...

For the record, this is typed on Ubuntu, with no problems, and the only Windows I run is at work, where I am slowly teaching them that blindly paying the MS tax is regrettably stupid. Hell, even MONO is available for Linux, so even all the loser <ahem> programmers in C# can move over to an Ubuntu today with no loss.

I agree, get over it UD!

        • FWIW, this is why I haven't tried Linux: Its community. Which is probably just as well, as I'm probably not wanted, being a "loser" Windows programmer (in C++) by profession.
