I love the concept of this Linux Distro

  • In the Keep It Simple Stupid scheme of things, it's a fine idea. As a Linux newbie, it's always irritated me that the location of program files is 1) multiple, and 2) non-obvious.

I can see some trouble related to server-centric installations. But for the home workstation, it would make Windows people a lot more comfortable with learning a new system.

  • There is a lot to be said about tradition. Often the creators of a system know more than those who carry the legacy. Consider the US government and how it has changed since the founders time, and you can easily see what I mean.

The idea of each package having a directory of it's own to contain the files is pretty unique. Therefore, you will not find any system which supports packages from this system, or be built except for this distribution. You will not be able to go out and download the latest mozilla

My opinion is that it went to hell when Van Buren took office. He was the first one who didn't risk the noose for the US.
      • My opinion may not be popular on that front because it's a double-edged sword, but Lincoln. Until Lincoln the states on a regular basis threatened succession and the Feds were routinely trying to keep the Union together, after the civil war they no longer had that right. Not that I'm saying I would have done anything different or that what he did was bad, he had no good options and picked the lesser of 2 evils.

It just seems that in hindsight the balance of power shifted too heavily toward the Federal side
