Due to some seriously heavy trolling in the comments, I've moved the contents of the sockpuppet log here. We can still discuss below if needed, just ignore the crapflooders.
Looks like Twitter's not the only one [slashdot.org] with sockpuppets.
I don't think you should get a life, but you should get over it. As I said before, this is Slashdot, possibly the best place on the internet to make fun of MS and its bumblings.
Oh, and foe you? You think too much of yourself, sir. It really isn't that important.
I really hope you're not trying to imply that the person whose journal you linked to is also me? Do me a favor, go find me some stupidity like this [slashdot.org] or this [slashdot.org] to at least make the effort to create a link between two accounts, and then get back to me about my sockpuppets.
You think too much of yourself, sir.
Apparently you do too, since you had to come in here and tell me about my alleged other accounts. With user IDs lower than mine, no less.
I really hope you're not trying to imply that the person whose journal you linked to is also me?
Of course I am, silly! Look at the date/time and the content, and you can see why it's worth a quick assumption, or at the very least pointing it out to you. But your word is good enough for me, so you may want to pop over there and say hello and form a guild or something with the guy. If you're going to carry on with this, might as well not duplicate the work effort, eh?
Yeah, I know. But really, chasing Twitter (or any 'dotter) is just silly if you ask me.
Oh, absolutely. Like you though, I can only deal with so much boredom. I could be doing drugs, after all. But I'm too old for that. This is much healthier anyway:)
Perhaps you read my comment too hastily, as I'm no longer making that claim?
I can think of worse hobbies than stalking/speaking outagainst/attacking/bashing with a rock twitter. I try not to feed him too much but sometimes I just can't help it.
He thinks I work for MS too, which is very funny since I post things critical of them as often as things in their defense. Same with Linux and Apple.
I'm glad someone maintains such a list. I happen to enjoy debating topics, discussing points of view, playing "Devil's Advocate" or even just posting nonsense back and forth...
I dont, however, enjoy having debates with the same guy using 2-4 of his 8 accounts - not when I could be talking to intelligent people instead.
Add to that, I dont like the fact that he impersonates a non-Microsoft user... he makes every Linux, eCS, OS/2, MacOSX, Debian, etc, etc user look bad when he tries to claim he is in the sam
It's called a "name troll". Mactrope, Odder, westbake and that one are the same, created because he thinks it's clever to name his sockpuppets after the people who dare disagree with him.
Normally you see that done to people like Bruce Perens and Miguel de Icaza so I suppose on a certain level it's flattering.
Most of them have negative karma now anyway, so they are irrelevant.
It's called a "name troll". Mactrope, Odder, westbake and that one are the same, created because he thinks it's clever to name his sockpuppets after the people who dare disagree with him.
There is certain logic in it... to a casual reader, it will seem that the name troll and the original are one and the same.
To a psychotic mind like twitter's, it is the second best thing to actually convincing you: since he cannot do that, he may well create puppets of you who will agree with every inane thing he claims.
The thing he ignores is that it makes it easier for us to spot him.
You're a psychopath. A dishonest, asinine liar with a painfully displaced case of self-importance, a 6-year old's knack for convenient self-delusion and the most embarrassing example of social incompetence and petulance I have ever seen online.
You and people like you are Steve Ballmer's wet dream.
Thank you for sharing, twitter. Yes, everybody knows that you have no sockpuppets and I work for Microsoft. Your arguments are rock solid and devastatingly disarming at the same time.
No, they won't. And I don't think I'd be expecting them to. But if more and more people are informed about what's happening, he will get modded down more often, and that's what kills him. He can't stand it.
Maybe he'll learn eventually and start trying to be a valuable member of Slashdot, but I'm not holding my breath over that.
I think it would be nice to see a few links for each sock that show the relationship. God knows there are at least a dozen for each one because he's so stupid.
Well, on second thought... how about they just click on the names to look at the posting history and make up their minds? It's not like he's not replying to himself all over the place every single day anyway.
Nah, just look for the posts where someone rattles on about "non-free", and insists on changing the subject line of every single reply (such as freenix [slashdot.org])
Aaaa-ahhh... yes, freenix's enormous body of work (12 posts from May 27th on) is a bit out of character for twitter (Iraqi scientists and jesus), but the halting style is certainly very similar (especially here [slashdot.org]), misspelling of it's/its here [slashdot.org], the changing of the topic title and always appending a period at the end, and the one you replied to here [slashdot.org] pretty much clinches it. "Intentional waste" is one of his favorite phrases (closely followed by declarations about how free software is perfect), and I've never s
Yeah, I suppose talk is cheap without some sort of evidence, isn't it? I tend to think it's painfully obvious that all those "people" are him, but that's not the case for everyone. I'll update the JE with some links. He just created [slashdot.org] another one so I was going to anyway. The problem is I just ran out of space in my Slashdot sig...
Im curious myself what you are looking for. I don't see the resemblance between freenix and twitter. twitter is always M$ and gnu and opensource blah blah blah.
It's hard to explain. But I know that's him, without a doubt.
But in the interest of fairness, I removed it. He hasn't used the account as a *sockpuppet*, so it doesn't belong in the list.
He will though, eventually.
I wouldn't - it's Twitter. I would severely doubt that he's going to use it for something honest, he's probably just priming it's modpoints so he can get to +1 karma to add some legitimacy.
"talk is cheap without some sort of evidence, isn't it?"
Indeed. But you didn't answer the question. I see a bunch of links up above but that doesn't tell anyone why you think they are all the same person. Are you simply basing these links on style of writing?
I think you posted this before I updated the journal text. Please look through a few of the supporting links I added (rather than just the names) and I will be happy to clarify or expand on any of them if for some reason something is not clear.
Funniest story. When he first started working over the socks, someone bought [slashdot.org] him subscriptions for all of them (three at the time). I suppose it was one of those "poor twitter, he's being targeted by the forces of evil" thing, and in any case the problem wasn't as widespread.
A couple of weeks later, twitter had another sock out and on one of the usual shill party threads, the same guyreplies [slashdot.org] to him, not knowing it's twitter.
You may very well be right. Sure, there are lots of people on Slashdot that criticize Microsoft, that's the whole point of the site's existence. But I saved this [slashdot.org] article from 2006. If you browse the posts at +3, you can see the usual level-headed, reasoned discussion that I like so much about Slashdot. Some people attack Microsoft, some defend them (depending on the tone of the submission I suppose) and some are neutral. Towards the end of the listing you'll find twitter [slashdot.org]. The only post at that level of mode
Ben Franklin had conversations with himself in his and other publications and it's a legitimate way to explore an issue, so this never bothered me on it's own.
This is my favorite quote. It is interesting in a perverse sort of way to look into his warped mind.
My plan is to leave him alone if he isn't using puppets.
Agreed, that's the whole point.
Ive already done some meta-moderating where I mark "offtopic" mods to Will as "Unfair". Not sure if that helps at all.
Well, thanks *grin*. I suppose those posts are indeed offtopic, and I'm the first to recognize that, but it's up to you to mark them otherwise. In any case, much appreciated.
Well, thanks *grin*. I suppose those posts are indeed offtopic, and I'm the first to recognize that, but it's up to you to mark them otherwise. In any case, much appreciated.
Actually, I would consider them meta-topic.
In the context of whatever discussion at hand, your twitter-exposing posts are indeed offtopic.
However, in the context of posts where twitter's many sockpuppets slap each other on the back, they are not offtopic at all: they warn readers that they are watching a puppeteer's play, and not a real discussion.
This is why I only use offtopic mods for posts which are offtopic on both counts; digression or warning are not offtopic, but answering to a wrong thread is.
Better to move the info to another entry. Besides, twitter's bullshit journal "troll zoo" has comments conveniently disabled. You at least gave him the chance to challenge the evidence, with the usual tepid results. (I love how he updated it to claim I have secret powers. What a sad moron).
And BTW, I'm almost 100% sure those "jew" trolls are twitter. He's lost it. He's running a "false flag" op here, trying to associate anyone that replies to him or berates his sockpuppets with bullshit like this. One of
I've counted at least five separate name-trolls of willyhill.
I guess they don't have to be added to the official list as they are all certainly all alike and easily recognizable -- so recognizable, in fact, that they do not even attempt to hide their trollish nature.
