As you may or may not know large chunks of the crowd here decamped for multiply.com

The other pluses and minuses aside it lets you post multimedia and lets you do your own CSS for your journal/profile. Sort of myspace/facebook without all of the annoying kids.

Disadvantage is it is considered a social networking site, so many corporate proxy's won't let you in :(
