Journal DrWho520's Journal: Cholera Outbreak - Hainan University, Hainan, China

I originally read this on IO9 which links to an English translation of the blog by EastSouthWestNorth. Apparently there has been a cholera outbreak at the Hainan University in Southern China. Officials have quarantined the campus to prevent the spread of the disease and have provided medication. Cholera can be treated with a course of antibiotics. The troublesome part is the lack of essentials on the campus. Food (even instant noodles) is in short supply and water was temporarily shut off in some instances, which is the correct thing to do if the water supply is your source vector. This could prove a little inconvenient if your diet consists of instant noodles and you are suffering from diarrhea. Oral hydration is an important part of cholera therapy. The student used QQ (Chineese facebook) to keep tabs on her friends and a blog to catalog and provide the most detailed news report of the situation.
