using adblock to kill article tags

  • I see plenty of people complain about the tags, but I don't really understand what is so bad about them. Sure, they often become a mechanism for the slashdot peanut gallery to make their voices heard, but there are times that the tags are actually useful for searching through articles.

    What is so bad about the tags?
    • Well, in my case I keep experiencing a rendering bug (which I've reported) where the tags overflow into the article space.

      Other than that, I don't mind them.

        Yeah, the tags are pretty screwy... I get funny rendering too.

        I'm pretty sure we all get that rendering bug. It's just how the page is designed. Also problematic, is that the tags are the same color as the summary, clicking on them no longer does anything, and sometimes multiple instances of the same tag will appear. Plus they are mostly useless for searching, unless you happened to want to search for all "kdawsoncrap", or "crybaby".

      The fact that they always mess up the text view mode. Other than that, I don't care.
