Journal Sylver Dragon's Journal: I guess there is some Change I can Believe in 5

Just a quick one this time. If you saw may last journal entry you may have seen something about marijuana in California. Well, it would appear that the Obama Administration is looking to change how the Federal Government deals with the issue of medical marijuana; by, of all the crazy things, letting the States decide. Damn, now if he would just leave my hunting^Wassault rifle alone, I might really start liking the guy.

  • I don't use the stuff, never have, and don't plan to, but I think that there's a good move.

    (As for the assault weapon ban, rather than call it completely dead I think "indefinitely postponed" is more prudent. Certainly it does not appear to be going anywhere soon, meaning this year and maybe this Congress. Which is nice.)

    And given the seriousness of the world situation I would like to commend my local paper (the Courier Mail) for running this story on page 3 of todays paper

    • Sure, the only reason is to tax it, but its a case of victory by steps. We get marijuana legalized for tax reasons. With any luck, in the next few years people will begin to noticed that it didn't cause our society to descend into a drug fueled 24/7 orgy. Once that realization sinks in, we may be able to turn the clock back a bit on the War on Drugs.

      Of course, the rate at which they want to tax is ridiculous. At $50 and ounce, the illegal stuff will probably still be cheaper. So this may just be a fe
