Journal morgan_greywolf's Journal: More mod abuse 1

Well, Mr. 4-digit UID asshat: I now know who you are. Let's just say my spies are everywhere. Oh, no, I'm not going to call you out. I want you to sweat it: does he really know or not? Because you don't want a war. You really don't want to pick a fight with me. I've been on this system at least as long as you have. Think about what that means. Or are you too stupid? Better watch your back, pal.

The only thing that has ever frustrated me about the internet is that when someone pisses me off I can't close my eyes, reach straight out and somehow grab them by the neck and squeeze.

I've come to realize the problem was never the person who made me angry, it was me being angry in the first place.

Some people choose to abuse people's emotions with the power of anonymity. Maybe it seems as if when we don't have to face the victim then no harm has really been done.

As for waving threats around... You can threaten me with a gun to my face that if I do something you don't want me to do, then you will shoot me. You've already made the mistake of making the threat. The result can be broken into four possibilities on two axis, whether or not I comply or whether or not you shoot me.

If I comply and you do not shoot me, then we are in the situation that you have pointed a gun at me and I am still free to later make a different decision, probably when you are no longer brandishing a gun at me.

If I do not comply and you do not shoot me, you have failed to make good on your threat, perhaps I can do anything I want and you will be incapable of retaliation.

If I do comply and you do shoot me, you have lied and I am dead. There's no CTRL-Z, and you'll be left to deal with whatever mess there is after that. We can no longer negotiate, we can't clarify if the problem was really a problem.

If I do not comply and you do shoot me, then at least you were honest. Still, I am dead and you are left with a mess to clean up. My penalty has taught me nothing for I will have no opportunity to learn better.

This analogy is only effective with absolute circumstances and absolute results with supreme authority over the situation, but you would have to change an awful lot of variables to make sense out of pointing the gun at me in the first place.
