Journal iminplaya's Journal: And who wants to force you to buy insurance? 6

Who else? Hillary's golden goose. And this is another payment to her for dropping the nomination attempt. Makes me think she's actually the acting president. And why do they want it? For the benefit of the market, of course. It's certainly not for any of ours. I suppose the Wall Street guys are drooling over this. More free government money, only this time it comes straight from us. We need to throw the money changers out of the temple. There's only one fair way of doing this, but it hardly seems likely. Without our right to health, where's our right to life? Oh, yeah that's only for those who aren't actually alive yet. Fuck the living, right?

RG, you might be right. If this goes down, it would make this the worse president AND congress EVAR. Plenty of republicans are behind this. Mo money Mo money Mo money. Of course if they were to legalize the evil weed, it would go a long way towards mitigating that. Pretty safe bet that won't happen without a hail of bullets. Prohibition is big business. And the business of America is business. And they're ready to nuke the planet to protect it.

UPDATE: Here's a beaut(Butte?)..."Insurance works because policyholders pay into their plans when healthy, and have their medical bills paid when they are sick," Oh, do tell, Senator Baucus. Hmmm, let's see...Ah yes...Very elightening, but not at all surprising.

And who wants to force you to buy insurance?

  • Granted, I haven't heard what the latest plan is, but the article you linked to is from November of 2008. You probably should have realized it was outdated when it read

As Tom Daschle, the incoming Health and Human Services Secretary

As of course we remember the conservative jerk-fest that ensued when Daschle's tax snafu came to light.

    • Read the previous JE. This is garbage, and I hope people will stamp it out before it's too late. Unfortunately, it appears that just the opposite is happening. Single payer, man. It's the only way. I don't care about "conservative jerk-fests". This is a real threat. And both factions want a piece of that pie. There's going to be a lot of cocaine and hookers going around over this.

I could hardly agree with you more on that statement. I have been arguing for universal health care for years and years. Its been almost 10 years now since the first time that I had a for-profit HMO try to royally screw me on coverage (by retroactively un-paying several thousand dollars worth of bills).

How on earth they think they'll be able to keep costs down when people are required to buy health coverage is beyond me. That will inevitably become an invitation for the for-profit HMOs to go hog wild

        • [geezer, lawn, etc]...back when we had to tie down and muzzle our pet saber toothed badgers before we went into school,. health and life insurance was SO cheap, guys used to go door to door selling it. You had to go out of your way to find a crap job that didn't have it for ridiculous prices like a few hours work a month. I remember one job, six bucks a month, employer matched it, so 12 clams a month! Then, joe government got into the medic etc care, caid, whatever act. Zoom to the sky premiums! [/geezer, l

          • I would wager that the medicare system was designed by the insurance companies. It was created for them, not us.

The AMA? They're doing their job, protecting the market...If there is no scarcity, somebody has to create it. It's like telling the Eskimos the use of natural ice is prohibited. Here, buy one of our nice clean, certified safe GE refrigerators.

Great idea. Just imagine what that would look like. ...
