    Windows 98

I wonder how many people will get Windows ME, and then kill them selves due to the shame.

  • That hurts. I don't even run Slackware. Never have. I do admit to knowing who Bob Dobbs is, but that is the fault of one of my high school friends who brought his Subgenius book to guitar class. In college we printed out a giant head of Bob on 16 pages of paper and taped them together for a party. All these strange people started to ask whose idea that was. After the first person started to go subgenius on me I lied and said it was someone else.
  • I'm Red Hat, which, ironically enough, is the OS I happen to be using right now.

    Coincidence? I think not...
  • My mom always told me that if I flew straight and ate all my vegetables, that someday I could be a 20 year old operating system. I just never thought it would happen so fast!
  • Palm OS.

Sweet. FK, how did you end up XP? Too much eye candy?

  • As a write this from a redhat box.
  • "You look better than your older brother but your communication skills are lacking."

Windows 95?! Someone's gonna get hurt. I wanted to be Red Hat like all the cool people!
  • From the image:
    You are PalmOS
Punctual, straightforward, and very useful. Your mother wants you to do more with your life like your cousin Wince, but you're happy with who you are.

    Actually, that's pretty close.

I like the comment at the bottom of the result page: "Not happy with your OS? Or, if you ended up with GNU/HURD it means you didn't answer all the questions." Now that's geek comedy.

  • I think I found an easter egg. Here's what you do:

    1. Play with your answers until you get "Windows XP"
    2. Go to the bottom of the "Congradulations Page" and hit the "go to page three" link.
    3. For the "When you are left alone in someone's appartment" question, choose the one about the sock drawers.
    4. For the "front door" question, choose the one about the odds against someone actually going arround trying doorknobs.
    5. For the "remembering faces", choose the one about implanting microchips in your friends.
    6. For the "playing monopoly" question choose the one about being banker because everyone trusts you.
There may be one other question that I'm not remembering, but the answer should be pretty obvious.

    The result?

The operating system formerly known as Hailstorm!

  • ...the comments they give some of these OSes. Such as Windows 1.0: "You're a worthless piece of crap that should've never been born." Or Debian: "People have difficulty getting to know you. Once you finally open your shell they're apt to love you."
  • a bit surprised ... Slackware Linux.
  • I'm Apple DOS?

    Apple DOS 3.1?

    What?

I wasn't even aware Apple released a DOS 3.1. They released something called ProDos a long time ago, a failed attempt to turn the 68k platform into something like what the clone market had, but...

    Apple DOS?

  • I guess it could be worse, I just wish that their hardware didn't cost as much and there were sufficent games/apps written to it. The whole free software world is going to have to make some tough decisions in the next few years as AMD, Intel, Sun, and IBM sort out the 64-bit PC market, we all like some of their stuff, but 2-3 new ports for each project could get hairy. Of course as the Alpha dies, that will help some, but why is the Opteron|Itanium II|Power4|UltraSparc IV more deserving than their brethren.
  • You are HP-UX
You're still strong despite the passage of time. Though few understand you, those who do love you deeply and appreciate you.

Isn't it funny that I deploy application on HP-UX boxes for a living. Does this mean developers tend to look and act like their platform....
  • I'm Amiga for some silly reason...
    • Yeah, I'm Amiga too. Didn't see that one coming. maybe our confusing at being Amiga means something...
    • I don't think I've ever even seen a real Amiga. Here is their description by the way:

You are Amiga OS: Ahead of your time. You keep a lot of balls in the air. If only your parents had given you more opportunities to succeed.

It's funny, because that's kind of true.

  • I was really suprised.. I absolutely hate macs, yet I get OS X! What's up with that?? Doh!
  • I guess it was the one on what I would do if I went to my megacorp party alone.

I said I would hang out by the punchbowl getting hammered with all the other dateless folks.

What the real anwer is of course is this:

I'd not be dateless. But, if I was, I would hang out at the punch bowl because all the hotties at the party would eventually end up there to get something to drink :)

    Yeah baby! ;)
  • it says i'm slackware linux. "you are slackware linux. you are the brightest among your peers, but are often mistaken as insane. your elegant solutions to problems often take a little longer, but require much less effort to complete." i did enjoy getting the picture of bob and his frap pipe, but there is no way i'm the brightest among my peers. or if i am, you all are in serious trouble. in real life (outside these tests) i am a win2000 gamer/3d enthusiast with a linux box to do some grunt work. i guess in my heart i'd like it all to run on linux, but it doesn't.
  • You are OS/2 Warp
You're plagued by feelings of abondonment and disgust for your backstabbing step-brother. Oh, what might have been.

As an ex-OS/2 user (over two years of usage) I don't mind being equated to this OS. Of course, I would have preferred OS X or OpenBSD (which are my favourite OSes), but I'm quite pleased I didn't end up with any taste of Windows.

  • I'm XP!

I guess that means I'm shiny, full of bugs, and user-friendly. I'm not sure I like that description.

Of course, it was a male-biased test... I personally wouldn't dress up like santa so the ladies can sit on my lap. I don't go to christmas parties (which wasn't an option).

  • Running on a Clie, I hope...

  • Cool! err... I think so.

I'm saving up (that translates roughly to "daydreaming about") to buy one of those newfangled 12" tiBooks (It's finally won me over, despite the 15" screen on the next model). If only they could be hooked up to the 17" Apple display...
  • As I run both Win XP and Debian side by side. Maybe I can blame my computer problems on the socialists of my Linux box sabotaging the fascist Microsoft one?
  • Oh lord, they think I'm "punctual, useful" etc.
I feel a sudden urge to go out and do something nihilistic.

  • You're plagued by feelings of abandonment and disgust for your back-stabbing step-brother. Oh, what might have been.

  • Does that mean i win?
  • Which OS are You? [bbspot.com]
  • I'm GNU Hurd!!! [bbspot.com] though that might be because i forgot to answer a question (therefore my survey is as incomplete as the Hurd is :P)

    Actually, i found that i'm Palm OS...nifty :>
  • by Spunk ( 83964 )
    Is that because I'm single?

    Err...
  • "brightest among my peers, but generally regarded as insane"

Not bad for a stupid web personality test.
