Meta: Total Number of Comments?

langelgjm (860756) writes | more than 4 years ago

User Journal 9

Before all the changes to /.'s system, user's comment pages used to display the last 24 comments that had been posted (subscribers could see more). On that page, there was a heading that read "User's last 24 of X comments", where X was the total number of comments that the user had ever posted under that nick.

However, this disappeared a while ago, and as far as I can tell, there is now no way to ascertain the total number of comments that a user has posted. This is mildly annoying, because it was an interesting way to see how much someone has participated in discussions over their /. lifetime.

Does anyone know where/how to find this information? I e-mailed help one time and got a response, but I don't think they understood what I was asking, as they simply directed me to the user comment page.

Though I notice I can only see my total number that way... any way to see other people's totals?

Nope. Gotta ask 'em politely now. Myself, I'm at 4413, including this one.

Too bad it's broken. I'm quite sure I had broken 10,000 comments about two years ago, but it claims I only have 9029 at the moment.

Did the same to me... as I approached 10,000, a thousand or so magically disappeared from the tally. I have no idea if the comments disappeared too, or just some of their math.

Wish they'd stop fucking with things regardless...

Cute, I'm on 65!
Post++!

I do disagree with some of the changes in the beta index, do they still have total comments on an article not showing? That's what made me go back to the default..
Got to say it's faster as well without all the extra bloat, guess I'll just be sticking to the norm and hoping the changes don't get put into my favourite slashdot :)
