Attacking Iraq

  • As soon as it becomes profitable.
  • Too bad you have to subscribe to livejournal to participate in the poll. Anyways, if I were a militry minded person, I would consider my attack to be on a new moon, and March 3rd is the next new moon (aka the opposite of a full moon). That way it will be very dark over the desert, and give advantage to the night vision wearing soldiers of the high tech American Millitary.

  • It can't be the 14th (or earlier). The inspectors come back to the UN on the 14th, and we will not attack before then; the US will wait until the inspectors have given their report, then give the UN one last chance to act before the US leads a separate coalition, and this will probably take another week or so. In addition, most reports seem to be that our forces won't be ready until late February; but if they wait too long, we risk being in Iraq during the brutal summer. Early March seems likely. Without looking at the actual current troop deployments, and not knowing the timeline for UN meetings, following the meetings on the 14th, I'll say March 6 (Thursday, just like the start of the first Gulf War).
