So, there really is a journal function?
It'd be more useful if this would dovetail with a blog like facebook. If someone is such a narcissist that they think people care about their opinions, might as well keep it to a minimum and focused?

    Yep, and it's used as well, although I think only by really heavy users. You get a slashdot message when people that you befriended, write a journal entry. Like happened in this case.

    It's not heavily used, I'm guessing. I'm quite a heavy user, and I befriended 100+ people, almost all of them because of +5 comments. Two people of that big list use the journal function and one of them is SlashDot staff. Add to that the fact that a small minority of people actually comment (to make it into my friends list). Th
