Journal richie2000's Journal: Telecom package MEPs now decided

The names of the 27 members of the European Parliament that will be negotiating the Telecoms Package have now been decided.

The third reading of the Telecoms Package is centered around amendment 138; if copyright holders and others should be able to demand of ISPs that they ban users on suspicion only, or if this should require an order from a court of law. As access to the Internet has become a necessity, the Pirate Party argues that banning users should require a court order and not be done on a whim.

If you are a citizen of the EU, please contact your nearest representative and make your voice in the matter heard. One of the MEPs is Christian Engström of the Swedish Pirate Party. We believe we know his stand on this issue. :-)

(Disclosure: I am a member of the board and IT Manager for the Pirate Party)
