Journal FroMan's Journal: UN 10

What is wrong with the UN? Israeli soldiers are attacked and they defend themselves and within 24 hours UN is condemning Israel. A month after North Korea attacks a South Korean ship with a torpedo and the UN is discussing condemning the attack, but in all probability won't since they cannot get China to agree.

He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the LORD. Proverbs 17:15

  • It's really that simple. How else do you explain an organization that remains largely mute as 800,000 people are murdered yet can loudly denounce a member state whose crimes (if any) don't come anywhere near that level.

The UN is useless. It should be abolished.

  • Israel ships are attacked

Could you hook me up with a link? I've found no mention of this in all the articles I've read.

Superyooser's detail are correct, from checking multiple sources. I had just read a story over the weekend while it was developing and the details were wrong or I mis-read it at that time. I had not done follow up on the story since. It was Israelis who were attacked, not their ships. I'll update the JE.

      • Thanks, I thought the ship part was weird. Paintball guns? What's wrong with tear gas and tasers? Sheesh, it's the 21st century.
  • The Israelis descended on the boat empty-handed with paintball guns on their backs. The "peace activists" acted like a pack of murderous savages, attacking the men with long knives and iron bars before their feet touched the deck. A DISPROPORTIONATE RESPONSE, I would say.

Whose fault were the deaths of nine activists?

    Consider:
    • Israel offered to transport the aid that was on board to Gaza Arabs by land, which is the normal means. (The "blockade" allows a nearly constant stream of trucks loaded with tons

What else should happen when you are descended upon while in international waters? I hate dirty stinky hippies as much as the next guy, but I don't think Israel should be dressed in white either. I mean... God forbid if Gaza has some concrete.

      • The activists wanted to create an incident. Their mission was not humanitarian; it was propaganda. They created a spectacle for the media to film, and cry, "A flotilla of six ships! See what extreme measures these humanitarians have to do to circumvent the evil Israeli blockade and get aid to the poor Gaza Arabs!!"

There would be no blockade in the first place if Hamastan (occupied Gaza) would stop attacking Israel.

        • You still haven't addressed the specific points he made. Would you care to do so?
          • What else should happen when you are descended upon while in international waters?

Dialogue? Non-violent resistance? These are peace activists, after all. A Nobel peace laureate was on board one of the ships (as well as a Hamas leader.. ha ha). They don't believe in violence, right? But it's now known that they had guns on board, which they used against the lightly-armed Israeli commandos. Other items on board: bulletproof vests, military-grade night vision equipment, a rifle scope, an assortment of knive

            • Wait a fucking minute. How can a a country claim "sovereignty" over international waters? Since when did oxymorons become the norm?

Mind you, I shouldn't be surprised. Israel's still the only country to kill US servicemen and get away with it. This here is small potatoes compared to this.
