2 more weeks of hell.

I gave my notice for the contracting company. I'm going back into NMS with a passion that can't be denied.

Just 2 more weeks of waking up when other people are coming home from work.

Just 2 more weeks until I can take the dog to the dog park after work, or go to the normal park with her on her leash (we're right near Chatfield, and they have a great dog park, I've been told.

Just. 2. more. weeks.

where am I, and why am I in this handbasket? (1)

10 days or 14?

Be brave little one, you've made it this far. Here's, and cheers, to your future.

my last night is the 12th. I start new job on the 14th. the 13th is gonna suck, but I DON'T CARE. I get to work days again. I get to have a life again.

I get to not wake up, go to work, come home, sleep.

I get to get out in the sunlight and take photographs in my downtime. Probably of bunnies for a while, since the place we're living is overrun with the adorable grey furry things.

Glad you're getting to make a positive change. As for getting a chance to take pics again, you might want to check this out: The Daily Shoot [dailyshoot.com] . It's pretty cool.

sigh; i have a cute lil' point and shoot that I could use for fairly decent photos, and of course el nikon for nicer more composed photos with whichever lens. For casual shots, either works nicely.

It will be nice to see daylight for more than just my commute from work to home and from home to work.

and now I've done all my paperwork, I've taken my drug test, and given my 2 weeks' notice. I'm just waiting it out. 5 more workdays. (one tonight/tomorrow, 4 next week.)

That's one of the reasons why Oregon winters are hard for me as originally from California. Those months during which the Sun rises after I'm at work and sets before I leave are the worst.

I have my BlackBerry camera for point and shoot pics. For more composed one I have an older Olympus C-5050 which was kick-ass back in the day. It's a hybrid between a DSLR and a point and shoot. It doesn't have interchangeable lenses or the SLR setup, but it does allow you to tweak the WB and allows for saving in RAW format. I'm thinking of getting one of the new introductory level DSLRs this summer.

I've got a Nikon D80, and a panasonic dmc-zr1. the panasonic takes decent *enough* photos, (MUCH BETTER than the camera on my phone) and is 12mpx, which if nothing else, lets me crop the hell out of a photo :)

We're glad to have the point n shoot. It does video, which we've been using for things like product shots on our website, and for a demo of the cnc router benny built. I got it for ... some holiday or other from Costco.

2 more hours of this crap, then another week (4 days) of 12 hour shifts against my will. (I'll gladly work whatever hours are needed to finish a project, etc. but this is crap.)

At least you're almost there! Although that sounds like a brutal week to finish on, with no recovery time before your next job. See the Sun will probably help immensely, though :-)

A decent point-and-shoot and a nice DSLR are, I think, the best combo. Some shots are so quick that having the point and shoot makes all the difference. Plus being lighter and easier to carry around. I have a little Sony Point-and-shoot that works nicely for that. But there is something very cool about the deliberate photographing process with any flavor of SLR, digital or otherwise.

Yup. one of each is nice. and yes, this week will be brutal, but doable. and the flop from nights to days is a WHOLE lot easier than days to nights.
