BigSlowTarget's Journal: Goodbye advertising

After years of coexisting with ads in the interest of supporting content development I finally have to say no more. Today I enabled the stop advertising option on my Slashdot account and installed adblocker. Why? The proliferation of drop down page expanding banners. Am I the only one who finds this as annoying as the pop-up? How can advertisers profit from inventing advertising so bad it forces their audience to take these kind of actions?
