I originally began following Slashdot (Chips & Dips) because I was bookmarking sites that could get me progress and updates on development of HURD.

I didn't think I'd have been waiting this long....

That is all.

But I really WAS!

And Rob was rolling code for Enlightenment DR.09 plugins, too!

...and you can already pre-order it. According to Amazon, it will ship this coming May. Amazon's ship date doesn't necessarily mean it's going to ship of course, but it's progress toward taking the title off the vaporware list.

Perhaps in its place on the vaporware list we can add
  • Slashdot code that works as intended and is thoroughly tested before release

I think I came across the site towards the end of '97, found I liked it, and have mostly hung around ever since. For all its faults and the endless complaining that goes on, slashdot still is and always was the home of the best discussions and people relating to technical and even some non-technical subjects. There is nowhere else as good. That's why I still hang around, even despite D2. And it would be impolite not to mention I love your journal too. Hope 2011 is a great year for y'all.
