Journal npsimons's Journal: Why Movies Suck 3

This. So totally fucking this.This is precisely why I don't even *know* what other movies came out last year, but I went to see "Inception" in the theater *four times*, and got it on DVD /and/ Blu-Ray as soon as it was available.

I'm not the most cogent person in the world, nor am I a film expert, so when a piece like this comes along that so totally defines what is wrong with Hollywood, I have to share. And yes, I consider most movies released these days to be mindless pap that is insulting to the intelligence of toddlers.

      Of course, these things are cyclical. I remember how moribund the film industry in the US was in the late 60's only to see an amazing period in the '70s with the rise of the auteur.

      The worst thing about articles like the one this journal links to is that they conflate "The Death of Cinema" with what is really "The Death of the Old Hollywood Film Industry". Maybe as Hollywood stops taking al

      Sure, there's a huge back catalog of great films, and I'm sure there were stinkers released at the same time back then that no one remembers (I do take issue with "back in the good ole days" arguments).
