Journal dacetone's Journal: not quite a monkey...right? 1

No, he doesn't look like a monkey, but this picture (courtesy of Mainichi Daily) is still pretty funny. And on the front page. Of course, further in the paper, he still appears agape.

This is the most beautiful anti-war protest I've ever seen. The top of the highest sail of the Sydney Opera House?!?!? I wish I had masterminded that one. Interestingly enough, I figured it would be on ABC's Oz headlines site, but a boring article with no pictures is stuffed at the bottom of the NSW list (below basketball, heh).

In non war-related news, my favorite news pic of the day is courtesy of PETA Japan.

Now, for Bush's address. It only made me angry enough to yell at the TV once or twice. Key yelling phrases: "The United States and other nations did nothing to deserve or invite this threat". (Give me a break. Deserve is a moral judgement which I leave to everyone's interpretation, but funding someone's enemies will tend to invite them to be hostile. Selling arms to countries will invite others to view us as hostile to their interests. Acting as if we're the only country in the world that matters will invite threats.) "...and it has aided, trained and harbored terrorists, including operatives of Al Qaeda." (Gee, I seem to remember Osama {remember him? he's the one that actually did something to harm us} also spoke critically of Saddam for being too liberal in his ruling and application of Islam. It's unlikely that an alliance would be forged between them, much like expecting a Southern Baptist and a Unitarian to agree on much) "Among other measures, I have directed additional security at our airports and increased Coast Guard patrols of major seaports." (I see. Is this why I got searched trying to get on a Greyhound bus last weekend? If it was, well, it's not working very well. They searched everyone getting on at Seattle, but searched no one getting on at any of the stops outside the big city. Helpful.) "In this century, when evil men..." (yes, only men are evil. women are just bitches.)
